Chad Kreuter

Former Redwood baseball star goes onto a successful career in major league baseball.

Chadden Michael Kreuter, better known as Chad Kreuter was born on August 26, 1964. He lived in Greenbrae. He attended Redwood and he graduated in 1982. After Redwood Chad decided to go to Pepperdine where he played on the baseball team. He played there for two years before he was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the fifth round of the 1985 free agent draft. He was a member of the Rangers organization from 1985-1991. He was then a free agent after the 1991 season and he was signed by the Detroit Tigers where he spent 1992-1994. He had his best year in the majors to this point with Detroit in 1993. Kreuter batted .286 with 15 Home Runs and 51 Runs Batted In. During the '93 season Kreuter also had a career high 15 game hitting streak. After the 1994 season Kreuter was once again a free agent, he signed on with the Seattle Mariners before he was traded to the Chicago White Sox. He played out the rest of a dismal 1995 season. In 1996 he returned to the White Sox but was sidelined most of the year because of a brutal collision at home plate that essentially shattered his shoulder. It was thought to be a career ending injury. Many of his White Sox teammates wote Chad's number on the back of their hats or on their shoes. Chad rehabilitated his shoulder and came back for 1997 season. Chad's production was low and he ended up being traded to the Anaheim Angels in May of 1997. This is where Chad is currently at. Chad has not been a top of the line catcher in Major League Baseball but he plays good defense, plays hard and has a good attitude. We all know how much Chad has done for Redwood Baseball, which by the way is still on top.
