Summer Reading Instructions

  1. Go to http://learn.tamdistrict.org. Log on using your normal Redwood username and password.
  2. At the bottom of the Redwood High section, you will find links for the Summer Reading assignment. Click on the link that’s appropriate for you. For example, if you will be a sophomore next year, during the 2010-2011 school year, click on the link that says 2010-20100 Sophomores.
  3. Follow the instructions for creating a post and for responding to other posts on the online forum. These are the same instructions you were given on a handout in May in your English class.
  4. Be sure to print out a paper copy of your post and a paper copy of your responses to two other posts. Bring these paper copies to your English class in the fall.

If you are an incoming Freshmen, click here for your Summer Reading instructions. You do not have a username and password yet, so you will not be able to post to an online forum. Your freshmen English teacher will show you how to do so in the fall.

If you are a Transfer Student who will be a sophomore, junior, or senior next year, 2010-2011, click here for instructions on how to complete your summer reading assignment. Be sure to save a digital copy and a paper copy of your work. Your English teacher in the fall will show you how to post your work to the online forum.

If you are enrolled in either AP Language and Composition or AP Literature and Composition for next year, you do not need to complete this summer reading assignment. Your AP teachers have already given you a separate summer assignment.

REMINDER: The online forums will be moderated by teachers throughout the summer. Please make sure that your posts are appropriate. All posts and responses can be traced back to the people who made them.

If you have any questions about the summer reading assignment, read the instructions again carefully. If you are still confused, ask a friend or email Mr. Hettleman, English Department chair, at shettleman@redwood.org.
